The client is a global electronics producer. They needed an instant messaging app for interaction between a user’s phone and TV during live broadcasts.

Problem

Softeq was tasked with creating an Android instant messaging app for smartphones, Smart TV, and Android TV. The app had to enable interactive chat via an integrated messenger overlay feature. This would allow users to chat without interrupting the broadcast.

The instant messenger includes social media networking features, it allows users to create public and private groups, supports one-on-one chatting, and supports signing in from multiple accounts.

Solution

On-screen instant messaging app

Softeq developed a messenger, a multi-platform app with social media networking features, that enables on-screen interaction while watching live television. Users can send IMs from mobile to mobile, mobile to smart TV, or smart TV to mobile.

On-screen interaction during live TV streaming is possible thanks to the messenger overlay feature.

The server hosts two databases for permanently storing user account-related data and temporarily storing chat history data. A special search system indexes all the available information, making it accessible for the app.
